Micropropagation for Gardens

Ros Smith, Head of Micropropagation at the College, has been developing techniques for the micropropagation of a range of rare and endangered plant species, especially rhododendrons and magnolias. Working with the National Trust and other gardens in Cornwall and throughout the country, she’s been successful in propagating plants from their gardens, particularly those affected by Phytophthora. ramorum and P. kernoviae.

Ros will run a day of talks and practical demonstrations that will include: A light lunch will be provided. The College is off the A30, near Camborne, southwest of Redruth in Cornwall (TR14 0AB). There’s a Travelodge not far away at Hayle. Wonderful gardens in the area include Trengwainton, Trelissick, Tregenna, Glendurgan, Trebah and many more.
